Fr. Séamus Hogan was born in downtown Toronto in 1973. The youngest of seven children, his Irish parents always kept him closely involved in the Church. After finishing high school he went on to York University in Toronto. It was only while studying at university that Fr. Séamus discerned a call to the priesthood. In 1997 he entered St. Augustine's Seminary in Toronto. In May 2002, after five years of prayer and study, he was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Toronto. After his ordination he served at Blessed Trinity parish in Toronto for three years, after which time he served at Merciful Redeemer parish in Mississauga. In 2007 he began further studies in Rome, where he completed a doctorate in Church History at the Pontifical Gregorian University. Since 2012 he has served on the academic faculty of St. Augustine’s Seminary where he teaches Church history. Most recently, he has been appointed Pastor of Merciful Redeemer in Mississauga. Fr. Séamus is very happy to be a priest, is thankful that Christ has called him to follow him in the priesthood and feels privileged to serve the people of Merciful Redeemer Parish.
